Welcome to artaangan, Academy for Arts! We offer you music classes in classical music and light music. Music has always been the integral part of Indian culture and tradition. Withstanding the test of time over years, Indian music has now become timeless. It has transcended the language and manmade barriers and has scooped its position all over the world. Indian music offers true soothing to the mind, body, and soul of its listeners.

The soul of Indian music is “Sangeet”, a combination of three different forms namely: vocal, instrumental and dance. Indian music is of two varieties-Hindustani music and Carnatic music. Hindustani music is practiced in the northern India while Carnatic music is predominant in southern part of the country. The music originates through a system of Raag and Taal wherein Raag comprises the melodic part and Taal creates the rhythmic aspect. Raag encompasses 7 notes that are arranged in a systematic order, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa for Hindustani music and Sa Ri Ga

Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa for Carnatic music. Taal is the repetition of a certain format.

We are currently offering you the following:

• Shastriye Sangeet (Classical Music): In south, Shastriye Sangeet is known as the Carnatic Shastriye Sangeet whereas in the north it is termed as Hindustani Shastriye Sangeet or the Indian Classical Music.  The music is the same wherever you go. Shastriye Sangeet or the Indian classical music is sung and played by strictly following the guidelines of notes, beats, melody, and harmony.  The music is exceptionally pleasing to ears in spite of strict following to the set rules. Some of the instruments that are used in Shastriye Sangeet are Veena, Sitar, Shehnai, Tabla, Bansuri, Sarangi, Sarod, and the Harmonium.

Light Music: This is the light music which is sung and played using easy words and simple ‘swarnakans’ so that it can be easily understood by the listeners. The music does not involve strictly following any established rules or guidelines. The main purpose of Sugam Sangeet is to entertain and please its listeners.
